Peace

I admit it. I have a thing for hay fields. I guess that's pretty obvious since I got married in one, right?!? I think they are the most peaceful and gorgeous sights that pop up all over farms in early summer.

However, I don't love hay season because this is where you can find my husband for what seems like weeks on end until waaay past dark:

Over the past month I have eaten several of my dinners in a tractor cab. I did get to drive this beauty and it was quite the experience.

Ben: Push this lever on the first bang that shakes the tractor, then push this lever on the second bang. Don't worry, you won't miss it.

Me: Huh??

I wanted to know exactly what these bangs were, so I hopped out and I finally know how a baler works!

You drive over the piles of hay

and it sucks it up like so:

Then comes the fun part - making the bale!
(somewhere in there are two bangs!)

There you have it! A happy bale!

And a peaceful bale-filled hay field.

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to the most wonderful dad in the world!

I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful, smart, and loving father.
He is one tough cookie because he lived with a lot of girls for a long time and he made it through with flying colors!

I have said it before, but I sure don't tell my parents how much I appreciate them. I love you, Dad! Thank you so much for all you do for us!

Weekend Visitors

A few weekends ago, I was so excited and honored to have the most wonderful Memorial Day company - sweet Blair and Ash!

We had the best time and tons of pictures were taken. Mission: get Blair to like Aunt Linnie. It's not that she doesn't like me, it's just that I don't get down there nearly enough and we don't have much one on one time. Needless to say, she loves her Gigi (my mom) (and who could blame her?!?) and doesn't have much to do with me when she's around. We remedied that this weekend and she likes me now! It took some serious waffle making, bubble blowing, and cookie giving, but I think I did it!

We played with Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head,

we played with the overabundance of my in-desperate-need-of-a-lawnmower clover,
we ran,

and decorated Aunt Linnie's car with Craisins,

and ate cookies too!

I enjoyed my company (especially this little cutie) so much....

I can't wait for them to return!

Good Times and Girlie Food

Continuing with the wedding (I know these are a little out of order!), we gave Georgia a brunch the day before her wedding and I was lucky enough to have the big responsibility of picking out the menu. I searched blogs, my go to cookbooks, and recipe sites and had some possibilities, but when my favorite time of the month came around, I was drooling. Yes, my favorite time of the month is when I go to my mailbox and I find this:

My Southern Living!

Let me tell you, this month did not disappoint! It is chock full of mouthwatering, girlie recipes. I did not find every recipe we made in there, but the ones we did use were, as always, to die for!

On the menu we had gorgeous frittatas,

Fresh Herb Spoon Rolls, homemade cinnamon rolls made by the one and only Beth, Strawberry and Avocado Spinach Salad, Tomato Pies, and homemade Pecan Coffee Cake. I did a terrible job photographing everything, so here it is all together!

In true Georgia style, we had fresh peaches too! (Which may or may not have made it into a Peach Bellini or two!)

Now, for the best part - dessert! These recipes were all found in this month's Southern Living. These little cuties were fabulous. I don't know if I loved the jars or the cheesecake more, but they were out of this world. I am a huge fan of anything goat cheese, and these Goat Cheese Cheesecakes were super easy to make and who can resist anything in an individual serving dish?!?

Next up, Profiteroles with Coffee Whipped Cream. Homemade whipped cream infused with Kahlua and espresso stuffed in homemade puffs. Drizzled with Hot Fudge. Oh my.

I don't think I have to tell you how wonderful these were!

And finally, Chocolate Truffle Bites (that I forgot to take a picture of). Here they are with the other desserts. These were also super duper quick, easy, and yum-o.

Maureen had everything looking exquisite and a good time was had by all.

We ate overlooking a beautiful golf course.

Mother of the bride, bride, and maid of honor!

We had the best time preparing this fun meal and spending time with the bride before her big day! Thank you, Maureen , for opening your lovely house to some crazy cooks!
