we ♥ pbk

Faegan received one of these beauties for Christmas from her grandparents and it has been so much fun to watch her with it. Now this child is a lover of all things fuzzy/soft/cozy and we knew that this chair would not disappoint. This is the Pottery Barn Kids Sherpa Anywhere Chair and she is in love. She got to play with it for a tiny bit before we left for Georgia, but it was like a brand new toy she had never seen when I put her in it when we got home. Words won't do it justice, but hopefully you can sense her excitement through these pictures!

Thank you Grandma and Papa! We love it!

Back on the Cookie Bandwagon

I just looked at my last posts and while they are heavily on the subject of Faegan (who wouldn't want to see that cute face?!?), I have been making cookies! I have not found the balance between mommyhood, work, blogging, and cookies. Unfortunately the blogging has taken a backseat.

I had a client ask for some cookies to match the invitation for her son's first birthday party. I think they turned out super cute!

Email me or contact me through the contact tab at the top of the page if you are interested in cookies!

5 Months

Happy five months, sweet Faegan!

You had a little bit of trouble with your bottles this month and decided you weren't going to take them while I was at work. Grandma Karen kept you and graciously dealt with a hungry baby that only wanted her mama. Miss Jessica has been patiently working with you ever since you changed your mind about them and after four days of fussing with her, you will now take your bottle.

I came home from work last week and started talking to you and you were just cackling. I don't know what you thought was so funny, but only Gigi has been able to get that much noise out of you until now! You love your Gigi and make the funniest noises for her.

Here is a video of you laughing at me. Ignore my annoying voice! I have learned you'll do anything to get those precious laughs and smiles!

You are still wearing size 2 diapers and 6-12 month clothing. Some of your sleepers are 3-6months, but they are getting a little tight in the length. Your little legs are the chunkiest things and I could just eat them up. However, you do seem to be growing into your rolls :)

We are waking up for a feeding at least once a night. I think your teeth are bothering you some. I thought we had some peeking though, but they aren't quite there yet. I don't think it is going to be too much longer because I can see the tell tell yellow line that Gigi told us was the perfect indication of a fast approaching tooth. You got pretty upset a couple of nights when we put you down for bed and I don't know if it was your teeth or you just don't want to miss out on anything. We have started the night time routine of bath around 6, feeding, read a few books, and be in the bed around 7. Most of the time you wake up around 6:30 or 6:45 and take after your mommy and daddy and are super happy when you wake up! You are definitely a morning person.

You still take two good naps in the morning, an nap after lunch, and have started taking a quick cat nap in the afternoon around 4.

On our visit to Georgia for Thanksgiving, we got Blair's exersaucer and you love it. The dog with the crunchy ears is your favorite and you also like to try to put the apple stem in your mouth.

We still are using your bouncer, but your feet are starting to hang off. I don't know what we are going to do when you outgrow it! It is so nice to have a portable seat that we can place you in and you are content. You kick your foot in that bouncer and make yourself bounce. It really is quite funny!

You stopped rolling over for a little while this month, but you started again this week. I think you must have been working on learning something else.

You definitely know who your mommy and daddy are and give us the biggest grins when we get home. We still get wet kisses from you too!

I am beginning to notice an interest in food from you. You will follow whatever it is that I am putting in my mouth and try to reach for it. We are going to start solids this month when I have Christmas break and I think you will love to eat! Your daddy cannot wait to start giving you food!

After bath time with Blair. You love Blair and bath time and especially love taking a bath with Blair!

You are grabbing your little feet all the time now. You can really only reach them when you are lying on your back. I have to work with grabbing little hands when we are trying to get lotion on after bath time!

We love you so much our sweet, sweet, Faegan! You are growing up too fast!

4 Months

Dear Faegan,
You are four months and such a big girl! You are wearing size 2 diapers and 6 month clothing.

You found your voice again and you are really talking to us and making such precious noises. We receive the biggest smiles first thing in the morning when we peek over your crib, and I even get them in the middle of the night!

First smiles of the day.

You prefer to be put in your bed to go to sleep rather than rocked most of the time. Every now and then you will fuss and want to be loved and when I go in to check on you you get the biggest grin on your face that melts me right there. Needless to say, you don't usually stay in your bed when that happens.

You went through a phase this month where you weren't sleeping well and you were waking up every 2-3 hours for feedings/wanting to get in bed with us. I think it was partly due to a growth spurt and partly due to my laziness of putting you in bed with us for feedings. We stopped doing that and we are on a kick right now where you are only waking up once a night.

You are completely a thumb sucker. This is God's way of letting me know that I am not in control. I was not going to have a thumb-sucking child. You also continue to like to sleep with your head covered.

This is typical Faegan sleeping!

For my memory, here is a rough schedule of what you are doing right now:
You eat around 6:30 and are up for about an hour. You nap until your next feeding, around 9:30 (4oz bottle while I am at work), playtime, and a sometimes a quick nap. Another feeding around 12 or 12:30 (another 4 oz bottle when I am not there) and you play an hour or so and nap until 2:30 or 3. When I get home from work you are usually up the whole time. Sometimes you will take a catnap, but for the most part you are awake until bedtime. We have bathtime around 5, another feeding at 6, bedtime at 7:30, dreamfeed at 9:30. You will sometimes wake up at 1:30 and/or 4, wake around 6:30. On the weekends you will sleep later if we aren't up and making noise, but on the week days you wake up when we are getting ready for work and play for a little while.

You are rolling over all the time now when you are playing on the floor. You started out rolling over from stomach to back, but you now only roll over from back to stomach. We have to rescue you when you roll over to your stomach because yo don't like being on your stomach. It is a game that I think you enjoy playing - roll over, get mom to roll me back, roll over, get mom to roll me back, roll over...... you get the picture.

Miss Sophie the giraffe is your latest obsession. You just glow when I show her to you, grab, and in the mouth she goes.

Everything is in your mouth these days. We saw the nurse practitioner at your 4 month visit and she said that teeth would not be too far away. You are drooling a pretty good bit and your hands are constantly in your mouth. You weigh 14 pounds and are on the 75th percentile weight for height. They assured me not to let people sway my thoughts on your physique by telling me you were chunky. I think you are just perfect and could not be prouder of the hard work that we have put into forming those precious rolls.

You are very good at grabbing your toys and bringing them straight to your mouth. You also like to grab my hair and our faces. You reach for Mommy and Daddy's faces and when you make contact you smile and open your mouth as wide as you can for the best wet kisses.

You love your daddy!

We are blessed with giggles every so often. We heard your first laugh on October 22, but you are pretty stingy with those things! We can coax a few laughs out of you, but you only think whatever we are doing is funny the first one or two times and won't do them again when I have the camera out. I have discovered that the camera is not your favorite thing and if I don't get what I want after the first several pictures I am not going to get it. You smile at the beginning and then you are over mom's photo shoots.

Everywhere we go we are asked "Is she like this all the time?" and we proudly smile and say, "Yes, we have the most wonderful baby! She never fusses!!" and we are telling the whole truth. You truly have spoiled us rotten. You are googling and making the most precious noises now too. We have many "conversations" about anything you want to talk about!

You are still a great traveler and enjoy riding in the car. You are just the sweetest thing in the world!
(Those are the same pants in month 3 and 4! Noticeably tighter! I love my little chunky monkey!)

3 Months

Our sweet Faegan,
We are loving every minute of our time with you! You are still the best baby and happy all the time. Everyone tells us how lucky we are to have a such a sweet, perfect baby. Your daddy asked Gigi if people were just saying that or were you really that good, and she assured him that we truly are blessed! GT says that we are falling behind as parents because we haven't taught you to walk or cry yet :)

You love bath time. If you get fussy in the late afternoon, I can always stick you in the tub and you are immediately happy. I just removed the sling this week and you love to kick around the tub and play.

You love your cousin, Blair and she loves you just as much. She really is a good helper!

We had busy month with a lot of traveling. This month you lost your sweet great grandmother, Mema. She was the most wonderful person and absolutely loved you. We are all going to miss her so much, but I am thrilled that she was able to meet you, hold you, and fall in love with you just as the rest of us have. She told me she is going to watch you grow up so I know you have one special angel watching over you! I think about her every time you take a bath now because on the last day I saw her she was asking about you and specifically asked if you were playing in the bathtub yet. You weren't then, but you are a splasher now!

Our sweet Mema holding you for the first time. I will never forget she called me the day before we came down and said "I hear I get to see that precious baby tomorrow!"

You are holding your head up like a big girl. When you sit in our laps, we hardly have to hold your head anymore. I think I am going to have to break out the bumbo soon!

Mommy went back to work this week and it has been so hard to be away from you. You have done wonderfully with the sitter and I think you are adjusting just fine. You take two four ounce bottles while I am at work and you are usually ready to eat when I get home. You eat at six, nine, twelve, and three and usually take two good naps in the morning while I am at work. You eat and are awake about an hour then you are ready for a nap. Your naps in the afternoon aren't as long, which is fine with me so we can play! We put you in your bed during the day for naps and you go right to sleep as long as you have your paci and a blanket to pull over your head. We have a little cuddle time at night, but you still like to be put in your bed to go to sleep. We are having a little frustration issue at some feedings. I think you get mad that it isn't coming out as fast as your bottle and you get MAD. It is equally frustrating on both parts because when this happens, you usually don't eat at all.

We have had several nights where you sleep 5 to 7 hours, but a few times this week you have not been sleeping well. Mommy is not used to this whole waking up every two hours thing and this is not a habit that I am hoping we make! For the most part you go down about 8:30 or 9 and wake up around 2 or 3 and then at 6.

You love for me to read books to you and you love to be sung to even more. I sang to you when you were in my tummy and I think you recognize the songs when I sing them now. We sing "I've Been Working on the Railroad", "I See the Moon", "Jesus Loves Me", "Jesus Loves the Little Children", and also the Mema classic, "Minnie the Mermaid" where you beam from ear to ear.

You blow tons of bubbles now!

You are outgrowing your three month clothes and fitting nicely in your 3-6 month things. Some things that you are wearing now are 6 months and they are a little big, but will fit in no time. I am squeezing you in the last of the size 1 diapers. We have some size 0 shoes and your toes are at the end of those. I weighed you on our scale and you unofficially weigh 13 pounds.

We had our first picnic in the yard. You still love to be outside.

You are loving your hands and are trying with all your might to be a thumb sucker. I am trying with all my might to make you be a paci baby. We will have to see how that turns out!

You still love your activity mat and coo and talk to the star that lights up. We have enjoyed seeing your communication evolve over the past month. You definitely have become much more responsive when we talk to you. The mornings are still your most talkative time, but we get some pretty good conversation in at night too.

Playing on the activity mat with Blair.

You are growing too fast! We love you so much, sweet girl!
